With the election of Bishop Scanlan, our diocese took a bold step in a new direction…namely to be intentionally missionial in our outlook and actions. By this we mean that we believe that God is active in our world, active in our communities, and active in our churches…already….our job is simply to join in what God is doing. We have developed for you two wonderful learning opportunities to be offered during the Spring and Summer of 2017.
Our first learning opportunities will be offered this Spring and Summer. For the southern half of the diocese we will offer a two-day workshop on Friday-Saturday, April 7-8. This workshop will take place at St Stephen’s Cathedral in Harrisburg from 6-8:30pm on Friday and 9:00-4:30 pm on Saturday. We know this is a busy time of year, but we urge you to begin this conversation with us. We believe that the sooner we share this common vocabulary and understanding, the sooner we can collaborate and cooperate together.
In the northern half of the diocese, we will offer a workshop at Trinity Pro-Cathedral, Williamsport, PA on Friday-Saturday June 2-3rd following the same format as above. Again, please consider bringing a leadership team from your parish to this revitalizing and energizing training experience. We are keeping the cost extremely low and lunch will be provided on Saturday. These workshops will be taught by me and group of excellent faculty from the College of Congregational Development. Again, I encourage you to take part in this new venture as we live into the mission of God together.
Working with the Stevenson School for Ministry soon to announce the Academy for Missional Formation.
