Approximately eighty clergy and laity gathered Aug. 16, 2014, at the Spiritual Center at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Lancaster, to listen and learn about faith formation in church and home. The full day event was an opportunity to hear about children, youth and adult ministries information.
Dr. Lisa Kimball, Professor of Christian Formation and Congregational Leadership at Virginia Theological Seminary was the Keynote speaker. Dr. Kimball also presented two workshops thoughout the day on Digital Content for Bible and Hybrid networks for in-person/at home small group learning. Other workshops included Adult Formation, led by The Rt. Rev. Robert Gepert; Lay Eucharistic Visitor (LEV) training; Ideas for Parish Youth Leadership; Gifts Discernment and Godly Play.
A train-the-trainer recertification course was also presented by the Rev. Canon Robyn Szoke-Coolidge in which eight clergy and lay were recertified and updated on the most recent changes in child abuse reporting for Pennsylvania.
The Saturday Thrive staff also provided childcare for attendees at no cost. Future Thrive trainings will offer an education and training component on Eliminating Racism.
