After a national search process and numerous interviews with several exceptional candidates, we are pleased to announce that The Very Rev. Christopher Streeter will be joining diocesan staff as the new Canon for Mission Development and Innovation. This position has been created to support the work of the new diocesan discernment initiative, Shaped by Faith.

The Canon will work in collaboration with other staff members, clergy and lay leaders from across the diocese to explore missional opportunities for parishes, discern options for future configurations of Church, and assist congregations in designing their future.

About The Very Rev. Christopher M. Streeter
Chris was born and raised in Newton, NJ. He attended the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY) where he studied Voice Performance and Music Education. It was during his college years that Chris discovered the Episcopal Church and began to discern a call to ordained ministry. He attended Virginia Theological Seminary and was ordained in 2009. Chris has served in a variety of parish settings, including large parishes in the suburbs of Washington D.C. and Rochester, NY.

He was Rector of two yoked, rural parishes and, most recently, a pastoral-sized parish in suburban Rochester. During his time in the Diocese of Rochester, Chris served in several leadership roles, including Vice-Chair of Diocesan Council and Chair of the Congregational Development Partnership Committee. Chris represented the Diocese of Rochester twice as a Deputy to General Convention, has taken classes toward a Doctor of Ministry degree in Transformative Leadership at Colgate Rochester Crozier Divinity School, and, in his most recent cure, served as Dean of the Monroe District. Chris is also a Trainer for the College of Congregational Development.

Chris is excited to join Bishop Scanlan’s staff as the Canon for Mission Development and Innovation. He will be relocating to our diocese in August with his wife and children.
