The Rev. Canon Stephen C. Casey
The Rev’d Canon Stephen C. Casey is a native of Great Britain. He recently retired as Rector of St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster, where he served for twenty years. Prior to taking Holy Orders, Father Casey worked as a senior executive in the UK Airline industry for almost two decades, where he was responsible for ground operations at several major airports in the United Kingdom as well as in Europe. Along the way, he conducted management training seminars and mentored a number of university graduates in business and industry.
In addition to his parochial duties, Fr Casey has served as adjunct faculty in the department of Field Education at the Lancaster Theological Seminary. At a diocesan level, Canon Casey is twice past President of the Standing Committee of the Diocese, past chair of the Diocesan Department of Congregational Development, past chair of the Diocesan Finance Committee, and currently serves on the Diocesan Board of Examining Chaplains. Father Casey previously taught in the Diocesan School of Christian Studies and has conducted vestry retreats, workshops on stewardship, capital campaigns and mentored a number of ordinands.
Canon Casey has served as Deputy to three General Conventions of the Episcopal Church, at the most recent on the Legislative Committee on Constitution and Canons. In 2007 Father Casey was elected an Honorary Canon of the Cathedral of St. Stephen.
His passions are Anglo-Saxon Spirituality, especially the Venerable Bede, St. Augustine, John Donne, and Anglican Theology, especially the Oxford Movement. He also likes bird watching and flying his Flight Simulator.
