Maundy Thursday — April 9, 2020

Join Bishop Scanlan, virtually, in her home as she prepares and shares an Agape meal on the night in which we remember the Last Supper.  Recall the time in which Jesus offered his mandatum (commandment) to his disciples to “love one another as I have loved you,” and reflect on our call to serve, in Christ’s name. There will be an opportunity for prayer and scripture reading. This time of fellowship and prayer will continue with the Bishop demonstrating how we can create small altars as holy spaces in our homes for the Paschal Triduum (the three days from the evening of Maundy Thursday to Easter Day).

All viewers will be invited to participate in an all-night prayer vigil, turning into Facebook Live on the hour from 8 pm – 8 am for scripture reading and prayer. A separate schedule will be posted here (coming soon) of the hosts of the prayer vigil.  At the end of the Maundy Thursday program, the bishop will pray Psalm 22, the customary ending to Maundy Thursday services.

To participate most fully in the program, please prepare a light meal- bread, cheese, dried fruit, wine or juice- to enjoy during the Agape portion of the evening.
