Many have suggested that to understand Episcopalians, one must understand the Book of Common Prayer. In this course, we will discuss the history, theology, and spirituality of the Book of Common Prayer and other liturgical resources authorized for use in the Episcopal Church. In particular, we will focus on the liturgical year, the Daily Office, Proper Liturgies for Special Days, Initiation, Eucharist, and occasional services. We will use multiple media including readings, Populi discussion groups, and live online discussions.
Scholarship funds to help you pay for this course are available if you can demonstrate need and if you are a member of a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Central PA. For information on scholarships please contact the Dean.
