Ash Wednesday Resources for 2021
Ash Wednesday Liturgical Resources and Materials
Due to the continuing concerns which surround the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, the guidelines previously shared by the Operations Task Force remain in effect. We offer the following suggestions as liturgical alternatives as you prepare to celebrate the beginning of Lent.
- A locally-produced card which contains the statement “Remember that you are dust, and to dust, you shall return”. Ashes may be placed on the card, making the sign of the cross, in the manner, they would be imposed otherwise. The card is then distributed in the same manner as is being done with Communion Under Special Circumstances (CUSC) presently. We have provided a template of this card, or encourage you to create your own. To download the cards in pdf, click here. To download the Word file, click here. For questions about the card design or download, contact Canon Alexis Guszick.
- A small container with ashes in it, which is intended to be imposed within the household by members of that same household. To purchase those containers, click here.
- Liturgical materials that incorporate elements of Communion Under Special Circumstances, along with materials suitable for Ash Wednesday.
Thank you to The Rev. Gene Tucker, our Diocesan Liturgist, for helping to assemble these materials.
