Announcing Series of Monthly Services For more information: featuring the Music of Taize, France

@Saint Luke Episcopal Church, 209 S Market Street, Mount Joy https://saintlukemountjoy.org/event/taize-service/

The Reverend Martha Harris, Priest in Charge, Saint Luke Episcopal Church, is pleased to announce a series of monthly worship services based on the music from the religious community of Taize, France.

These popular services are held on the first Saturday of each month at 5 pm in the sanctuary at Saint Luke. Enter the candlelit, stained glass window adorned sanctuary, and enjoy an hour of quiet music, scripture, prayers and meditation. Let the beautiful music wash over you and enable you to find a sense of peace and calm.

The Taize service will end with a Eucharist celebration for those who wish to partake. The next service will be on September 2 at 5 pm.

Music based on the Taize tradition is performed by Lancaster harpist and cantor, Davie Krak. Mr. Krak creates original compositions for the meditative chants which form the heart of Taize worship. Short chants, repeated again and again, highlight the meditation of Taize worship.

July’s service will honor the late Reverend Pauli Murray, an American civil rights activist, advocate, legal scholar and theorist, author and – later in life an Episcopal priest. Murray’s work influenced the civil rights movement and expanded legal protection for gender equality. She died July 1, 1985. Taize worship at Saint Luke is ecumenical and open to all.
