St. Barnabas Center for Ministry

About the Center

St. Barnabas Center for Ministry was founded in 1993 when parishioners of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church noticed many children in the neighborhood who were too old for daycare and too young to be out on their own. They did not seem to have any options available.

The Ministry was founded as a joint effort by Bishop Charlie McNutt of the Episcopal Diocese of Central PA and Bishop Guy Edminston of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Lower Susquehanna Synod.

Today St. Barnabas, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, is guided by a Board of Directors and supported by the Central Pennsylvania Episcopal Diocese and the Lower Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. They are grateful to have the support and assistance of the local community, churches, and businesses.

The original vision of providing a safe environment for children formed this ministry many years ago and is needed now more than ever as we continue to work together to grow this Ministry that is alive and well in uptown Harrisburg!
