Dear members of the Episcopal Church in Central Pennsylvania,
I write to ask your prayers for our Presiding Bishop Michael Curry as he anticipates surgery this Tuesday, July 31st, for prostate cancer.
Earlier this week, The Episcopal News Service (ENS) published an article sharing the news of Bishop Curry’s diagnosis and treatment plan. You can find it by following this link: https://www.episcopalnewsservice.org/2018/07/25/presiding-bishop-to-have-surgery-for-prostate-cancer/.
A man of deep faith and great joy, ++Michael expressed his confidence in the Lord and his intentions of making a full recovery when he met with the bishops at General Convention.
I ask that you hold Bishop Curry in your prayers as he awaits surgery, for the doctors and nurses who will care for him, for his family, and for restored health and healing.
Please continue to pray, too, as I know you do, for all those facing health challenges, undergoing procedures, diagnoses, and living with chronic conditions.
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servant Michael, and all those who face health challenges this day, give your power of healing to those who minister to the needs of the sick, that all who are afflicted may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
