Church World Service Harrisburg Seeks Donations

The Diocesan Migration Ministry Resources team has learned that several refugee families in the surrounding Harrisburg community are experiencing significant challenges after losing local sponsors due to the closure of human service agencies that offered case management, access to food, ESL classes and more. These families have all undergone thorough validation process and reside here legally. In response, the Harrisburg chapter of Church World Service, a faith-based humanitarian nonprofit, has opened a food pantry to help these families.

Church World Service is seeking donations of specific items to help these families:

  • 5-lb or 1-lb bags all-purpose unbleached flour
  • tea bags, plain black (non-herbal)
  • large bottles/cans of olive oil
  • dates and figs
  • canned peas and carrots, canned corn
  • sugar, salt, salsa
  • children’s juices, bottled water
  • feminine hygiene products (pads only)
  • deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo
  • hand soap, dish detergent, laundry detergent

There is also a need for milk, butter, and eggs.

Those interested in donating should contact Lori Clark Robinson for dropoff instructions.
